What Are Dentures, Partials, and Bridges?
Dentures and partials are removable oral appliances designed to replace missing teeth. Complete dentures work to restore all the teeth, while partial dentures work when some natural teeth remain. Dental bridges are similar to partials and work to bridge gaps created by one or more missing teeth. They are usually supported by crowns on neighboring teeth or implants, also known as abutment teeth. Today’s restorative options are comfortable and blend seamlessly with surrounding teeth.
What Are the Benefits?
Missing teeth may alter the way your face looks due to facial muscles sagging. Our restorations provide support, filling up sunken features and making sagging muscles look more taught. Once we fit you with your tooth replacements, you will instantly look years younger!
Restoring your teeth using dentures, partials, or bridges will improve your health and quality of life. You will find it easier to speak with clarity and to bite and chew. Your restorations will protect any remaining teeth from wear and will lower your risk of developing gum disease and cavities. They will also prevent any neighboring teeth from shifting, avoiding many potential problems.
What Is the Process of Getting Dentures, Partials, or Bridges?
Your dentures or partials may take several appointments to fit. We start by making a series of impressions to use in designing a model. After testing the model for proper fit, shape, and color, we will cast your restoration. You will love the natural looking results!
To outfit you with a dental bridge, we will first we will prepare the teeth that will house the crowns which will support your restoration. Depending on the condition of your teeth, will either fit you with dental implants or file down the top and sides of the tooth to make room for the crown to fit securely. We will then make impressions to send to a laboratory that will customize your bridge. You will receive a temporary restoration, and when your permanent one is ready, we will ensure proper fit before cementing it in place.
Caring for your Restorations
Caring for your restorations will ensure they stay functional for years to come! Cleaning them daily as directed and keeping up with your regular checkups will allow us to examine your tooth replacements and adjust or repair them as necessary.
